Details
This class 125 Milwaukee Valve 2885-005-1000 cast iron gate valve has cast bronze-mounted seat rings and bushings and flanged connections for bolting to pipe flanges. The cast iron construction and its bolted bonnet and solid wedge gate provide compressive strength and resistance to wear. The bronze-mounted seat rings equip it for high pressure applications and help reduce corrosion and erosion over time. The valve has a non-rising stem which stays fixed in place while the gate lifts and lowers, ideal for use in low clearance or underground spaces, and non-asbestos graphite packing helps prevent the valve’s stem from leaking. The maximum pressure of this class 125 valve is 200 pounds per square inch (gauge) (psig) for water, oil, and gas pressure (WOG) and 125 psig for steam working pressure (SWP). Class is a standard relating to tolerance, construction, dimension, and wall thickness, but it is not a direct measurement of maximum working pressure. The valve has flanged end connections on both ends for bolting the valve to pipe flanges. Mounted on top of the valve, a manually operated cast iron hand wheel activates the inside screw mechanism which lifts and lowers the gate to start and stop the flow between the connected pipes. The valve meets Manufacturers Standardization Society (MSS) SP-70 standards and American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) B.16.1 standards for quality assurance, and it is appropriate for use in various plumbing and heating applications, including use in building service pipe systems.
